Subaru has the most IIHS Top Safety Picks for 2019

Subaru has the most IIHS Top Safety Picks for 2019

By | Subaru Cars, Subaru News | No Comments

Subaru has the most IIHS Top Safety Picks for 2019! For 2019, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded Subaru with more TOP SAFETY PICK + awards than any other brand with seven models  (the 2019 Ascent, Crosstrek, Impreza (sedan and 5-door), Legacy, Outback and WRX) all earning the TOP SAFETY PICK + distinction when equipped with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and LED Steering Responsive Headlights. The 2019 Forester also earned the TOP SAFETY PICK award and all models received a ‘Superior’ rating in front crash prevention when equipped with EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology.

“Each year we continue to improve and innovate the safety features in our vehicles for our customers,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “For the Subaru brand to lead the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards with seven winners reflects our commitment to making safety the top priority in our vehicles.”

Out of 30 vehicles that qualified, the Subaru brand had the most TOP SAFETY PICK + awards. In order to earn this distinction, a vehicle must receive a rating of ‘Good’ for six tests of high-speed front and side crash tests, a rollover test, evaluation of seat/neck restraints for protection against injuries caused by rear impact, as well as earning ‘Advanced’ or ‘Superior’ in front crash prevention and a ‘Good’ headlight rating. This year’s ratings are more stringent than in previous years and marks the sixth time the test has been updated to reflect newer safety standards since the awards launched in 2006.

“We challenged manufacturers to provide the best possible protection in a range of crash scenarios and equip vehicles with automatic emergency braking system to avoid crashes, as well as offer headlights that give drivers confidence when traveling at night,” says IIHS-HLDI President David Harkey. “Fifteen brands hit all the marks to give consumers shopping for a new car a wide variety of 2019 models to consider.” For more Wilde Subaru news, deals, and specials, follow Wilde Subaru on Twitter or Like us on Facebook.

By | Subaru News | No Comments

Is the 2019 Subaru Forester a good car to buy? You finally decided you want a Subaru and you came to Wilde Subaru to see the full line-up. As you check out the Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback you wonder which of these models is the best fit for your family. Recently, The Car Connection named the redesigned 2019 Subaru Forester as the Best Car to Buy 2019, making it the first repeat winner in the award’s nine-year history.

“The Subaru Forester owns all its rivals with value, value, value. For less than $30,000, families get exceptional interior space, faultless all-wheel-drive traction, and a long-standing, long-deserved reputation for safety and durability,” said Marty Padgett, editorial director of The Car Connection, Motor Authority and Green Car Reports. “There’s not an ounce of revolution in the Forester – just virtue, across the board.”

The Car Connection chooses the winner from a selection of nine nominees that are made up of new or fully redesigned models and scored well in the TCC Rating. The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of automotive experts and is based on safety, comfort & utility, fuel economy, performance, and styling.

“We are extremely proud that the all-new Forester has won the title of Best Car to Buy 2019 by The Car Connection,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. “For more than 20 years, Forester has represented our commitment to providing customers with vehicles made to the highest standards of safety, versatility and reliability for great value.” For more Wilde Subaru and Subaru News, visit Wilde Subaru on Facebook follow us on Twitter.

Subaru Donates to Oregon Humane Society for Loves Pets Month

Subaru Donates to Oregon Humane Society for Loves Pets Month

By | Subaru News | No Comments

Subaru Donates to Oregon Humane Society for Loves Pets Month! Each October, Subaru works alongside animal organizations as part of the Subaru Love Promise Subaru Loves Pets Month.  Subaru will team up with ASPCA and BARK, the makers of BarkBox.  In the past we have hosted adoption events during the month. This year, we were happy to get involved in the local PuppyUp Walk.

Subaru of America recently announced that they donated nearly $57,000 to the Oregon Humane Society, marking the single largest corporate donation that this non profit has received this year. Subaru has been a supporter of OHS since 2004 and has partnered on a variety of programs including Doggie Dash and Giving Tuesday.

“We are so grateful for this generous gift,” says Sharon Harmon, President & CEO, Oregon Humane Society. “These funds will go a long way in saving lives and caring for pets in need.”

This gift was made possible by seven Portland metro area Subaru retailers which participated in the Loves Pets promotion which allocated $25 from each new car sale to OHS during the months of June and July.

“Subaru Loves Pets was our first metro-wide Love Promise event bringing the Portland retailers together to celebrate OHS in its 150th year of helping the animals,” says Jason Hirata, District Sales Manager, Subaru of America, Inc., Portland Zone. “We are proud to support OHS and its many great programs with this donation.” For more Wilde Subaru and Subaru News, visit Wilde Subaru on Facebook follow us on Twitter.

The Subaru Crosstrek Wins the Best Subcompact SUV Challenge

The Subaru Crosstrek Wins the Best Subcompact SUV Challenge

By | Subaru News | No Comments

The Subaru Crosstrek Wins the Best Subcompact SUV Challenge! Recently Cars.com released the results of heir 2018 Subcompact SUV Challenge, and the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has won the top spot again, receiving a total of 667 points.

The way the editorial team at Cars.com determined the winner by individually awarding points in the following 13 categories: interior quality, front-seat comfort, backseat comfort, in-cabin storage, multimedia features, convenience features, handling, powertrain, ride quality, noise, visibility, city friendliness and worth the money. All categories combined for a possible maximum score of 1,000 points.

Vehicles were also awarded points based on the measurements of the vehicle’s cargo volume and assessment of associated factors, the advanced active-safety and driver-assistance features (test vehicle equipped), and its grades in the Cars.com Car Seat Check which gauges the accommodation of various child-safety seats.

“We are very proud that Crosstrek has won the title of Best Subcompact SUV by Cars.com for a second time,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. “Subaru is committed to developing top-quality vehicles that are safe, versatile, and fun; the 2018 Crosstrek encapsulates what customers have come to expect from a Subaru.”

The Cars editorial team wrote about their evaluation, “We liked the original Subaru Crosstrek — an Impreza-based, butched-up, soft-roader hatchback — enough that it won our Subcompact SUV Challenge in 2015. Now, a second-generation Crosstrek has arrived, and while it may look similar to the outgoing one, it is indeed an all-new car. Sitting on the new Subaru Global Platform that will form the basis of nearly all of Subaru’s future cars, the 2018 Crosstrek is more than 95 percent new. Again based on the Impreza, it’s a compact hatchback with exceptional interior SUV-like room and standard all-wheel drive.”

Which Subaru models retain the most value?

Which Subaru models retain the most value?

By | Subaru News | No Comments

Which Subaru models retain the most value? Recently J.D. Power released their 2018 J.D. Power Resale Value Award, which recognizes the best resale value across 24 model-level vehicle segments.  J.D. Power provides consumer insights, advisory services and data and analytics. Many car-buyers know the J.D. Power name because of its association with satisfaction and vehicle dependability awards.

To choose the winners, 244 vehicle models were evaluated using a sample of over 650,000 transactions with an average of 3,500 data points assed on each vehicle. The award selection process also considers used vehicle wholesale prices (the price a dealer pays for a used vehicle) and then these prices are divided by the vehicle’s original purchase price. The calculations used are based on wholesale records from January through June 2018 for models that are three years old (2015 model year).

The Subaru WRX won in the Compact Sporty Car segment while the Subaru Crosstrek won in the small SUV category. This isn’t the first award for the Subaru Crosstrek. Recently, the model was named the 2018 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards for the lowest projected cost of ownership in their respective segments for the initial five-year ownership period. These costs include depreciation, fuel costs, financing, insurance, states fees and fees for scheduled maintenance and repairs.

By | Subaru News | No Comments

Subaru sells one millionth vehicle equipped with Eyesight! Yesterday, Subaru of America announced the sale of its one-millionth vehicle that is equipped with EyeSight. Including this driver assistance technology on your Subaru model has been proven to reduce pedestrian-related insurance claims by 41% compared to vehicles without the front crash-prevention system. Furthermore, a Japanese traffic accident survey conducted from 2010-2014 claims that Subaru’s EyeSight technology reduces crashes by 61%.  Furthermore, drivers using this technology had 84% fewer rear-end collisions than those who did not have the technology. The survey also found that the EyeSight system led to 62% fewer vehicle-to-vehicle collisions and a 49% reduction in vehicle-to-pedestrian crashes.

“Subaru has achieved 10 consecutive years of sales growth in the United States with safety as a key driver of that success,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief executive officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “Accomplishing this milestone in only six years reflects our commitment to improving and innovating the safety features and technology in our vehicles for our customers.”

EyeSight was first introduced in 2012 and has since become a safety feature across the 2018 Subaru lineup, excluding the BRZ sports car. All 2018 Subaru models equipped with EyeSight received the highest rating of “Superior” for front crash prevention from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It was first introduced for the 2013 Legacy and Outback models. The driver assist technology features Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management; Adaptive Cruise Control; Lane Departure and Sway Warning; and Lane Keep Assist.

EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is capable of detecting vehicles traveling in front and can activate in order to mitigate or even avoid the collision. For the 2019 model year, EyeSight is standard on the all-new 3-row Subaru Ascent as well as the Outback, Legacy and fully redesigned Forester.
